He married (1) REBECCA MALCOMB FORCAN in Jennings County, Indiana. She was born March 10, 1776 in Virginia, and died in Jefferson Co., Indiana. He married (2) MARGARET ANNE MCGEE February 21, 1797 in Clark Co., Ky. He married (3) MARTHA "PATSY" WOODARD Abt. 1812 in Ky. She was born Abt. 1782 in Kentucky, and died Aft. January 23, 1820. He married (4) NANCY GREENE HILL March 09, 1820 in Jennings Co., Indiana, daughter of THOMAS GREENE. She was born April 11, 1790 in R. I., and died 1828.

Notes for WILLIAM WHITSITT:   Could be Whitsitt, or Whitsett, or Whitsit.  Look to Jefferson County for information on William. William removed from Montgomery County Kentucky to Jefferson County, Indiana. He married his 2nd wife Mrs. Nancy Green Hill March 9 1820 by Elder Thomas Hill. He married his 4th wife Rebecca Malcomb, Mrs Rebecca Forceu.

Some sources for William Whitsitt: 1820-60 U.S. Census, Gibson County, Indiana. The Hoosier Genealogist, Vol 9,No 6; Vol 10, no 5; Vol 11, no 4; vol 13, no 4; Vol 18, no 3.It is also recorded that William death was in 1856 at age 89 years. The 1856 is more likely. The cemetery where William is buried is Hansell Cemetery also known as Mt. Carmel Cemetery. This is located about 2 mi SE of Deputy in Jefferson County IN and is to location of the graves of William Whitsitt Sr. and his 4th wife Rebecca Malcomb and of Chesley and James's Sister Sara (Sally) Whitsitt Stewart and her family.

Per Gordon K Weddle,  "The Henry Clay Whitsitt/Minerva stone is at Bethany Baptist Cemetery also in Jefferson County IN and about 1 mile from Hansell Cemetery Henry Clay Whitsitt was Gordon's great grandfather and was the first child  born to Chesley Whitsitt. Henry Clay is the one who came to Kansas for a while. He would have been a nephew of our Joseph.   William is the one who was quartermaster in the Revolutionary War.   We know this because of a handwritten letter of one of his grandsons in which it was said that he swam the  Ohio river at Cincinnati and helped to "herd the army's horses". Also written in a Whitsitt family Bible it states that Williams death was the 8th not the 9th of May of 1854.  The two first Whitsett's in the United States of America came from Londonderry,Ireland before the Revolutionary War landing at Plymouth, Massachusetts. They were Presbyterians. They were John and Samuel whitsett. Samuel,ancestors settled in Pennsylvania from there following generations evidently kept going farther west as new lands opened."

It is from Gordon K Weddle that there were no children by William and Rebecca Malcomb. She did however have children from her first marriage 1-3 unknown at this time. It is possible that Malcomb was her first husband's name and Forcan was her maiden name. So her children will probably be Malcomb's.

William Whitsett was born the 6-May-1767 in PA. He died on the 9-May-1854 and is buried at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Deputy, IN. He md. 1st to Ann Patsey McGEE on 21-Feb-1797 in Clark CO. KY. Patsey died between the 7-Feb-1809 and Aug 1812. William Married a second time to Martha WOODARD having children with her.  William married a third time to Nancy GREENE HILL, Her brother Daniel GREENE married William's sister Nancy. William's wife Nancy was born 11-April-1790 in R. I. and died (1828?) Jennings Co., IN and is buried at Paris Crossings, IN.  William and Nancy were married by Elder Thomas HILL.  F. Thomas GREENE Rev. War.  William married a fourth time to Rebecca MALCOMB, she was born on 10-Mar-1776 and died on 17-Jan-1855, living to be 78 years 10 months 7days.

She was born October 07, 1819 in Jefferson, Deputy, Indiana, and died April 09, 1872 in Scott, Indiana. He married (2) ELZINA SMITH July 26, 1873 in Jennings Co., In., daughter of ROBIN SMITH. She was born February 20, 1821, and died March 05, 1906 in Jefferson Co, Deputy, Indiana.

Notes for JOSEPH WHITSETT: It has been recorded that Joseph's date of death was also in Jefferson County.  Joe had 2 wives. the first's name is unknown at the current time. The seconds wife's name was Elzina, She was the name-sake of my sister. December, 2000.  Family Genealogy by Rachel Glennie Collier.  We have had a break through on the search for the Whitsitt's. Joseph's wife was named Elvina Foster. People felt she was named Elzina yet according to I.G.I of Jefferson County, Indiana census of 1850 it was Elvina. Yet with the probability of human error it could have just been transcribed incorrectly. Proper Penmanship was not a necessity for living then. For example on the Census it states their name was Whitsett and not Whitsitt. Was this just a misspelling put upon a census from bad handwriting? an 1880 census of the United States of Johnson, Scott County, Indiana source FHL Film 1254309 National Archives Film T9-0309 Page 35C It states that Joseph married Elzina Whitsit.  Per Effie Doris McGinnis Whitsitt's memory when she was alive, her name was Elzina and this is who my sister was named after. It states that Elzina Whitsit's Occupation was Keeping House.

Laura Whitsit was on the census, this was Laura Ellen; a Lusa Whitsit was on the census, this was Philura Victoria; a Geneil Whitsit was on the census, this was George Washington, occupation Laborer; and Joseph Whitsit was on the census, this was Joseph, Occupation Laborer.

"The land in Indiana was being given away and This was why Joseph moved there. Joseph was born in a Block house known as the C. K. Lard farm, 2 miles E of Deputy. This was a home where the White people would go for safety during Indian attacks. Joseph's mother went into labor during an Indian attack, and this is where Joseph was born."  From the typewritten genealogy in the Scottsburg (Scott Co IN) Library, written by Ann Bartle. The C. K. Lard farm, 2 miles E of Deputy would place it next to Pisgah Church where so many are buried.

It is also recorded Joseph Whitsett death was in Deputy, Jefferson County, Indiana . He was 78 years old.  The Cemetery is Hansell Cemetery also known as Mt. Carmel Cemetery This is located about 2 mi SE of Deputy in Jefferson County, Indiana and is the location of the graves of William Whitsitt Sr. and his 4th wife Rebecca Malcomb and of Chesley and James's Sister Sara (Sally) Whitsitt Stewart and her family.

Notes for ELVIRA FOSTER:   Is this the name-sake of my sister.  According to the IGI of 1850 Jefferson Co., Indiana Census her name was Elvina, not Elzina as our family previously believed. It is very very possible for the family stated her name was Elzina with the pronunciation of the i as long i. Which in Elvina it is also long I. Yet this could also be a mistake of simple penmanship and the ability to read and translate census properly.  Per an 1880 census of the United States of Johnson, Scott County, Indiana source FHL Film 1254309 National Archives Film T9-0309 Page 35C It states that Joseph Married a Elzina Whitsit.  It states Elzina Whitsit, Occupation Keeping House, age 59 born in Indiana; her father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother was born in Virginia.  It is also recorded that Elvira Foster died at age 52 in Deputy, Jefferson County, Indiana, and a different Place of Birth also: Graham township, Clark County, Indiana.

Carmel Cemetery This is located about 2 mi SE of Deputy in Jefferson County, Indiana and is to location of the graves of William Whitsitt Sr. and his 4th wife Rebecca Malcomb and of Chesley and James's Sister Sara (Sally) Whitsitt Stewart and her family. Per Gordon K Weddle, " I have a better photo of William's gravestone but remember the computer problems."

The Henry Clay Whitsitt/Minerva stone is at Bethany Baptist Cemetery also in Jefferson County and about 1 mile from Hansell Cemetery  Henry Clay Whitsitt was Gordon's great grandfather and was the first child born to Chesley Whitsitt.  Henry Clay is the one who came to Kansas for a while. He would have been a nephew of our Joseph.

It is speculation that George and Ellen died and are buried in Clay City or Center Kansas.

She was born July 21, 1862 in Zaneville, Ohio, and died April 17, 1942 in Mutual, Oklahoma.

Notes for ANCIL BASSETT WHITSITT:  Very little is known of Ancil's second wife "Denrona." They had no children.   Some called her Rainey or Raney or Lurana Honeyman.  Family Genealogy by Rachel Collier (whose mother's maiden name is Whitsitt): according to a 1900 Soundex file of Kansas of Ansil B. Whitsett, he was 40 years old when he married his second wife.  It lists him as Ansil not Ancil Bassett and Lurana as Lurania.  Per information from Billy Ben Powell, Nannie and Ancil were sweethearts in Kansas when Ben (Benjamin) Powell rode into town.  He was a very strong large man and really caught Nannies eye and she was quite infatuated with him almost immediately. Per Billy, she was "smitten" so she married B. F. Powell.  After his death Ancil and Nannie met coincidentally around the same year that they both had lost their spouses and the old flame was rekindled.  A bunch of Benjamin Powell's family are buried at Clifton Kansas.

Suzanne Deal Sellers:

William Logan Farr who married Mary Elizabeth Whitsitt, (daug. of Andrew J. Whitsett), are both buried in Long Point, South Cem. in Neoga Twp., Cumberland Co., IL. Also their two daughters, Evie Lynn & Ella/Ellie. There are TWO Long Point cems in Cumberland Co., one in Union Twp. called Long Point, and the other, which is referred to as Long Point, SOUTH in Neoga Twp. William has a separate tombstone, but is buried in the same plot with Mary. Mary's tombstone is a combination stone with both little girls names as well. One of William & Mary's grandchildren is also buried in this plot; it is a Hyatt child. The Hyatt child is child of Levi Perry Hyatt and Cynthia Ann (Farr) Deal Hyatt. Levi was her second husband.

Ethel Grace (Farr) Deal did die in Pawnee, OK, but she is buried in Alva Municipal cem., in Alva, Woods Co., OK. Her husband, Thaddeus/"Thad" Deal died in Perry, Noble Co., OK but he is buried beside her in Alva Municipal cem., Alva, OK. Their double tombstone reads "DEAL, Grace 1876 - 1955, Thad 1868 - 1960" Grandmother used name Grace instead of Ethel.

My father, (son of Ethel Grace (Farr) & Thaddeus/"Thad" Deal), Carroll Clyde Deal, was born on 29 Oct. 1903 in Alanthus, (also sometimes called Alanthus Grove), Gentry Co., MO. He died in Dallas, Dallas Co., TX on 21 June 1964 and is buried in Alva Municipal cem., Alva, Woods Co., OK with my mother, Jan Eva Susie (Armour) Deal. (That is not a typo--her name is a
combination name with a capital in the middle). Jan Eva was born 24 March 1907 on her parents' ranch in Galena Twp., Woods Co., O. T. (O. T. is Oklahoma Territory); she died 22 Dec. 1998 at Dallas, Dallas Co., TX. They have a double tombstone.

Ethel Grace & Thad Deal are buried in one plot, but Carroll & JanEva are buried in another. Plots are probably 20 ft. from one another, so would be in same area of cem. in Alva.

Rachel Effie (Farr) Shreeve is buried in Preston Hill cem near Farry, Woods Co., OK.

Before Nov. 1907 (OK statehood) Farry was actually in Woodward Co. When a state, Farry and that western area were put into Woods Co. I don't think Farry has had a post office for quite some time, so I don't know if it even appears on an OK map anymore.

The two younger children of Ethel Grace (Farr) and Thaddeus/"Thad" Deal, Dana Marjorie Deal & William Logan Deal have a double tombstone in Jennings cem. near Alanthus, Gentry Co., MO. It states that they are children of Grace & Thad Deal & gives the children's names; I don't remember off hand how the dates are entered.

LLOYD LINDEN WHITSITT (JOSEPH WILLIAM⁹, ANCIL BASSETT⁸, JOSEPH⁷, WILLIAM⁶, SAMUEL VARNER⁵, WILLIAM THOMAS⁴, WILLIAM³, SAMUEL², WILLIAM¹ WHITESIDE) was born October 16, 1905 in Clay Center, Kansas, and died June 20, 1993 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.  He married ALICE VIOLA PRESSNALL May 31, 1926 in Clay Center, Kansas, daughter of LEVI PRESSNALL and BESSIE PROW. She was born October 31, 1906 in Glendale, California, and died September 4, 1992 in St. Helena, California.

Notes for LLOYD LINDEN WHITSITT:  LLoyd and his wife were both cremated and their ashes are residing in Love with their daughter Oleitta Whitsitt.  LLoyd was cremated on June 22 1993.  Per Oleitta Whitsitt-Llewellyn, Her parents had worked very hard all of their life and had acquired more than they had ever imagined they could have. They had a beautiful Large Coach (as Oleitta called it, They called Double Wides, or Manufactured Homes that in those days.) and they were so happy to have it. Her parents lived in Napa Valley California, near the Napa River. One day about 1980 it rained and rained, then there was a knock and a man told them to grab whatever money or safe they could and go Now! There was a muddy water flood fast approaching their home. This is very similar to Mud Slides. Her father Lloyd grabbed a safe with receipts and documents in it and her mother, Alice, grabbed her purse and they left. When they returned there was nothing left. They had lost everything. Except for their clothes on their backs and what they had quickly grabbed only one thing had floated and survived, a chest her father had made and everything in it had survived, besides this nothing was left. Oleitta remembers her mother told her of how they searched and searched for anything, and how the smell was so horrible. Olietta believes the smell was because of the neighboring vineyards. The Vineyards used fertilizer and it washed away with the flood and washed over and into every crack and crevice of their new home. Lloyd had told her it wasn't the Napa River overflowing. It was simply a flood, or a Mud Slide.  After this disaster Lloyd decided they should live in a Retirement home in St. Alena, Yountville California. Oleitta believes this was the beginning of her mothers failing health. After her mothers death Lloyd Whitsitt only lived for 9 months. He moved in with Oleitta in South Weymouth in the latter part of his life. He told Oleitta how much he missed Alice. He went in for routine surgery on 20 June 1993 and told the Dr. he had come there to die. He died that day.
