DESCENDANTS OF JOB TYLER, OUR IMMIGRANT ANCESTOR
The genealogy of many of Job Tyler's numerous descendants have been recorded over the years. The family tree below contains information on our particular family and relatives who came to Ohio in the early nineteenth century, but it by no means includes every branch. If you are on a branch of these Ohio pioneers that I have not listed, a Google search of the Internet may welll turn up yours and other family trees not included here. Much information on Joseph Tyler of Wadsworth, Ohio was passed on to me by my grandmother Winnifred Tyler Wall.

GENERATION ONE

1. JOB TYLER was born about 1620 in Northern England. His wife's name was MARY, but we know almost nothing else about her. Job came to America about 1638 from England very likely to escape the religious persecution that brought his Puritan neighbors to the colony in Massachusetts. He settled in the area of Andover, Massachusetts where all of his children were born. Job died in 1700, in Mendon, Massachusetts.

__i. MOSES TYLER, b. abt 1641, Andover, Mass.; d. Oct. 2, 1727, in Andover; Moses m. (1) PRUDENCE BLAKE July 6, 1666; she was b. Apr 15, 1647, d. Mar 9, 1688/89. Moses m. (2) SARAH HASEY after 1690; she was b. abt. 1647, d. in 1718. Moses m. (3) MARTHA FISK, Aug 1718; she was b. abt 1649, d. Feb 13, 1734/35.

__ii. MARY TYLER, was born about 1644 in Andover, Massachusetts.

__iii. HOPESTILL TYLER, b. abt 1646, Andover, Mass., d. in 1734, in Mass.; m. MARY LOVETT, she was b. 1652 and d. 1732.

__iv. HANNAH TYLER, was born about 1648.

__v. JOHN TYLER, b. abt 1650, d. Sep 28, 1652, Andover, Massachusetts.

2. vi. DEACON JOHN TYLER was born on April 16, 1653, in Andover; died May 4, 1742, in Mendon, Mass.

__vii. SAMUEL TYLER, b. May 24, 1655, Andover, d. Dec 17, 1695 in Mendon, Mass.; m. HANNAH (maiden name is not known.

GENERATION TWO

2. DEACON JOHN TYLER (JOB1) was born April 16, 1653 in Andover and died on May 4, 1742 in Mendon, Massachusetts. He married HANNAH PARKER on September 14, 1682 in Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts; she was the daughter of NATHAN and MARY PARKER. Hannah was born on May 14, 1659 in Andover.
Children of JOHN TYLER and HANNAH PARKER:

__i. JOHN TYLER, born on August 16, 1684, Andover, Massachusetts and died in 1753, Mendon, Massachusetts.

__ii. NATHAN TYLER, born on February 17, 1686/87, in Andover and died on December 26, 1782, in Mendon, Massachusetts.

__iii. ROBERT TYLER, born on July 19, 1689, in Andover.

__iv. BETHIA TYLER, born on February 17, 1691/92, in Andover.

__v. MARY TYLER, born on May 24, 1694.

__vi. DAVID TYLER, born June 15, 1696.

3.vii. JOSEPH TYLER, our ancestor was born on October 21, 1701, in Mendon, Massachusetts and died on December 18, 1779, in Uxbridge, Massachusetts.

__viii. MERCY TYLER, born on March 26, 1704.

GENERATION THREE

3. JOSEPH TYLER (JOHN2, JOB1) was born on October 21, 1701 in Mendon, Massachusetts, and died December 18, 1779 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. Joseph married first MEHITABLE HAZELTINE about 1730 and died in 1754 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. Joseph married second MARY DRAPER on September 23, 1756 in Uxbridge, Worcester County, Massachusetts. In 1757 Joseph was a Member of Captain John Taft's Second Foot Co. during the French and Indian War.
Children of JOSEPH TYLER and MEHITABLE HAZELTINE are:

__i. ABNER TYLER, born on February 15, 1730/31.

__ii. TIMOTHY TYLER, born on June 2, 1735, in Uxbridge; he died before 1742, in Uxbridge, Massachusetts.

__iii. JOSEPH TYLER, born on May 21, 1738.

__iv. TIMOTHY TYLER, was born on May 17, 1742, in Uxbridge.

__v. MEHITABLE TYLER, born on December 1744, in Uxbridge.

__vi. RUTH TYLER, was born on February 7, 1750/51, in Uxbridge.

GENERATION FOUR

4. SOLOMON TYLER (JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born September 23, 1757 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and died November 1, 1810 in Uxbridge. He married first MARY ARCHER on February 17, 1781 in Uxbridge, Worcester County, Massachusetts. She was born 1761 in Uxbridge and died July 17, 1808 in Uxbridge. Solomon married second JERUSHA WOOD NEWELL on June 28, 1809 in Dudley, Worcester County,, Massachusetts. She was born in 1765 in Massachusetts, and died September 26, 1834 in Uxbridge. In 1780, Solomon served in the Revolutionary War in Captain Thaddeus Read's Company, Colonel Nathan Tyler's 3rd Worcester Company Regiment.
The Massachusettes marriage index for Solomon Tyler and Jerusha Newell lists her as Mrs. Jerusha Newell. The TYLER GENEALOGY lists her as Jerusha Wood (see Tyler Sources).

GENERATION FIVE

5. PARKER TYLER (SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born November 14, 1790 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. He married HULDAH, maiden name unknown. She was born Abt. 1780, and died October 11, 1811 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. The couple had one daughter we know of who died soon after birth. Parker came to Ohio with his brother Benjamin, but that is all we know about him.
Child of PARKER and HULDAH Tyler is:

__i. HANNAH TYLER, b. Oct 11, 1811, Uxbridge, Massachusetts, d. Oct 18, 1811, in Uxbridge.
6. BENJAMIN TYLER ( SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born on February 22, 1796 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts and died March 20, 1875 in Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio. He married OLIVE BROWN on June 8, 1820 in Medina County. Olive was the daughter of ABRAHAM BROWN. She was born Abt. 1794 in Bennington, Vermont, and died on August 26, 1874 in Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio. Benjamin made his will on September 30, 1863 in Medina County, Ohio (microfilm roll 343, case no 2172). Benjamin and Olive Brown Tyler are my three times great grandparents.

9. iii. SOLOMON TYLER, b. Nov 1824, Medina County.

__iv. MARY TYLER, b. 1826, in Medina County, probably in Wadsworth. She died as an infant.

__v. ROSINA TYLER, b. Oct 5, 1827, Medina County. She married AMOS HART.

__vi. ABRAHAM TYLER, b. in 1831, died as an infant in 1832.
7. SOLOMON TYLER (SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born on July 18, 1802 in Uxbridge, Massachusettes, and died on December 16, 1878 in Medina Co., Ohio. He married LUCRETIA COOK on April 6, 1828 in Mendon, Worcester Co., Massachusetts. In 1825 Solomon moved his family to Summit County. He is listed on the Census of 1830 in Copley, Ohio. Their youngest child Malcolm was born in Wadsworth so my assumption is they were living there in 1839.

GENERATION SIX

8. JOSEPH TYLER (BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born on August 14, 1822 in Copley Township, Summit Co., Ohio, and died November 12, 1901 in Wadsworth, Ohio. Joseph married ELIZA ANN WILLIAMS on December 22, 1846. She was the daughter of JOHN WILLIAMS and HANNAH ALBRIGHT. Eliza was born on January 28, 1824, probably in Stark County, Ohio. She died on June 5, 1893 in Wadsworth. Joseph married second LUCIA L. CUMMINGHAM on October 21, 1895 in Wadsworth. Lucia was born in 1830 and died in 1916 in Wadsworth.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on August 11, 1862 during the Civil War. He was assigned to the "Clara Dolsen" at Cairo, Illinois as paymaster. He was discharged on July 1, 1863. His civilian occupation listed on the census 1890 of Civil War veterans as farmer

9. SOLOMON TYLER (BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born November 1824 in Medina Co., Ohio. His wife's name was ELIZA. She was born in New York State in 1828. The couple lived in Hampton, Iowa. Solomon Tyler was a blacksmith and land speculator.
Children of SOLOMON TYLER and ELIZA are:

__i. GEORGE TYLER, born in 1848, in Medina County.

__ii. MINERVA TYLER, born in 1850, Medina County.

GENERATION SEVEN

10. RUSH SEBASTIAN TYLER (JOSEPH6, BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born October 15, 1851 in Wadsworth, Ohio, and died on September 25, 1914 in Wadsworth. He married first LAURA T. STANARD on July 1, 1875 in Montville, Medina Co., Ohio. She was the daughter of WILLIAM STANARD and NANCY BOOTH. Laura was born on August 22, 1850 in Montville and died on February 24, 1893, the end result of influenza, in Wadsworth. Rush married second EMMA SUSANNA LONG on December 18, 1894 in Doylestown, Wayne County, Ohio. Emma was the daughter of JOHN LONG and CATRINA DEIL. Emma was born on January 5, 1862 in Ohio, and died on September 11, 1940 in Wadsworth.

11. JESSIE ROMINA TYLER (JOSEPH6, BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born September 17, 1856 in Wadsworth, Medina Co., Ohio, and died September 19, 1936 in Lorain, Lorain Co., Ohio. She married JOHN W. CULBERTSON on March 13, 1897. He was the son of WILLIAM and FIDELIE CULBERTSON. John Culbertson was on born November 11, 1854, and died on October 20, 1932 in Lorain, Lorain Co., Ohio.

12. WINIFRED PEARL TYLER (RUSH SEBASTIAN7, JOSEPH6, BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born on June 21, 1876 in Wadsworth, Medina Co., Ohio, and died June 4, 1958 in Sharon Center, Medina County, Ohio. She married REASON DEFOREST WALL on Christmas day December 25, 1895 in Wadsworth. Reason D. Wall was the son of REASON WALL, Sr. and ABIGAIL KUDER. He was born on November 25, 1875 in Sharon Township and died at his home in Wadsworth on April 14, 1965.

13. JOSIE ROMINA TYLER (RUSH SEBASTIAN7, JOSEPH6, BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born on August 2, 1897 in Wadsworth, Ohio, and died on October 29, 1965 in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. She married first WILLIAM H. RAKER. He was born in 1897, and died in 1968. Josie married second NOBLE DRAKE on December 31, 1946 in Akron.
Children of JOSIE TYLER and WILLIAM RAKER are:

14. LLOYD TYLER (RUSH SEBASTIAN7, JOSEPH6, BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born on February 12, 1901 in Wadsworth and died about 1988 in Wadsworth, Medina Co., Ohio. He married JENEVA CLEMENTINE GRIMMETTE on July 3, 1952 in Wadsworth. Uncle Lloyd and I corresponded several times before his death. He passed on to me the information on our Culbertson relatives.

15. GUY WILBER CULBERTSON (JESSIE ROMINA TYLER 7, JOSEPH6, BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born on September 26, 1878, and died on August 17, 1961 in Phoenix, Maricopa Co., Arizona. He married ADA EMMA LATULIP in 1909. She was born on February 25, 1882, and died April 29, 1959.

16. JOSEPH RAY CULBERTSON (JESSIE ROMINA TYLER7, JOSEPH6, BENJAMIN5, SOLOMON4, JOSEPH3, JOHN2, JOB1) was born March 21, 1883 in Lorain, Ohio, and died September 9, 1945 in California. He married GERTRUDE BRUCE.
