Descendants
of William Whitsitt
Nashville, Tennessee

Much
of the following information is from Dr.
William Heth Whitsitt's, "Annals of a Scotch-Irish Family:
The Whitsitt's of Nashville, Tenn.," American Historical Magazine,
Vol. IX, Nashville, Tennessee, 1904. I have added additional
information that was located during my research of the Whitsett
family history. Dr. Whitsitt's history of the very early family
was based records or the knowledge of Margaret Whitsitt Blakey.
It is reasonable to assume that Mrs. Blakey's information was passed
on to her by her father and is probably reliable. See Samuel
Whitsett of Ireland for some of that early history.

Cecil
Coale in "Sim and Hade Whitsett"
wrote: Dr. Whitsett was a farmer and physician
in the Shiloh Community about 8 miles south
east of Bonham. This is Dodd City today. He
and his family came there from Kentucky about
1853. The Fannin county census of 1850 shows
Dr. Whitsett living on the farm of Mr. Dodd.
His family had not yet arrived in Texas. Dr.
Whitsett's date of death is from the Edmunds'
family Bible.

24, 1839. The dates of birth and death
from the Edmunds' Bible may be questionable,

to his siblings appears to be correct,
or nearly so. The Edmunds' Bible is the
only source I've seen that lists this
Joseph Whitsett who apparently died at
age two.
