"Red River Valley Pilots Association" is based here named for veteran pilots who flew over North Vietnam's Red River to bomb sites near Hanoi and Haiphong; the F4 Phantom behind me was one of the planes that flew those missions |
The Bell UH-1 "Iroquois", better known to Vietnam War veterans as the "Huey"; the unmistakeable noise of its rotor blades made the quintessential sound of the war |
August 6, 2022: Twenty-eight miles east of Bowling Green is Glasgow and the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center "Museum of the Barrens" where we stopped for awhile |
Next door to the Cultural Center was a restaurant whose owner was a fan of the Blues Brothers; no other explanation for these statues |
Ten miles north of Glasgow is Cave City in the Mammoth Cave area; Tonya wanted to stop to see the giant Moai head statue she thought she remembered; disappointment ensued |
