Ancil Bassett Whitsitt (1859-1946) was the son of Joseph Whitsitt (1813-1892) and Elvira Foster (1819-1872); grandson of William Whitsitt (1767-1854) and Martha Woodward; great grandson of Samuel and Margaret Whitsitt of Montgomery County, Kentucky. He married first Lurana Honeyman (1881) and second Nancy "Nannie" Demond (1905). Ancil came to Oklahoma from Deputy, Gibson County, Indiana
