in 1979. William Isaac Whitsett died in Fort
Smith on December 7, 1927. He moved to Huntington,
Arkansas from Mississippi about 1895 and then
to Mena, Arkansas when Clifford was about
one year old. William Isaac was raised as
an orphan and was kept from inheriting his
father's estate by relatives. About 1927 or
1928 Clifford moved to Detroit to find work
in an auto plant. He took his mother Fannie
with him. She died in Detroit on July 18,
1943 or 1944.
